The Proper Golf Grip Can Make All The Difference

What is the proper golf grip? That is a loaded question. There are many different styles and each style has its own variations. One thing for sure, a bad grip will make it very difficult to have a good golf swing. With a poor golf grip you will be making all sorts of bad adjustments in mid-swing to try to get the clubface back to square. Lets discuss a few of the basic versions of the proper golf grip.

The grip that most golfers use is the overlapping grip. This is where the little finger of the right hand is hooked around or on top of your left hand index finger. This is probably the most proper golf grip if you have strong or large hands.

The interlocking grip is similar to the overlapping one. With it, the index finger and little finger are kind of laced together. This is the proper golf grip for those golfers with smaller hands or shorter fingers.

Many golfers that have played baseball will use the ten finger grip. It is very similar to how they hold a baseball bat. All of the fingers are actually placed on the grip of the club. This can be the proper golf grip for those people who dont have as much hand strength.

Obviously, there is more than one proper golf grip. Choosing the right grip for you will take some patience. Like everything else in golf, it will also require some practice too. Talk to a golf pro, they will be glad to offer some quick advice.

As I have said before, if a picture is worth a thousand words then a video must be worth millions. It is easy to find a free video online that will demonstrate each of the three proper golf grips discussed here. Here is a video that may help.
