Golf Swing Impact Drills And Videos

Of all of the different components in a golf swing, impact is the most crucial. The split second that the clubface comes into contact with the ball is all that really counts. You might have a flat golf swing takeaway or you may have a very upright backswing, but both will work if you can capture the instant of pure impact.

According to the video at the bottom of this article, there are four major moves to achieve the proper golf swing impact position.

The first move is with your right knee. It should move toward the target. This will promote a good weight shift during your swing.

The second move is the turning of the hips. You should feel your left hip turning behind you. This rotation will help to pull the shaft and head of the club into a good golf swing impact position.

Next, your right heel will come off of the ground. It will vary a little between your longer and shorter clubs. The longer the club you are using, the more the right heel will come off of the ground.

Finally, the position of your left wrist at impact will make a huge difference. Concentrating on getting the back of your hand pointed directly at the target at the time of impact will ensure that the clubface is square.

After the instructor on the video takes you through each of these four positions, he brings in a student to demonstrate. He also takes you through a really nice golf swing impact drill. In fact, he says it is the best drill in all of golf. He calls it the push drill and suggests that you do this for ten seconds with ten reps every night.

I think I will take him up on his suggestion. I know that I would really like to improve my ball striking. This golf swing impact drill may be just the ticket.
