Golf Swing Analysis Is It Worth The Price?
With the advances in camera technology, golf swing analysis has really changed in recent years. Capturing your golf swing on video and then having a golf professional analyze it can be invaluable to any golfer wanting to really improve their game. There are many different ways this can be done.
If you watch the television broadcasts of the PGA tournaments each week, you have seen the incredible technology of the Konica Minolta Biz Hub Swing Vision camera. I love it. These super high speed cameras are able to slow down the swing to the point that you can freeze the image of the golf swing at any given point. The camera that shows the club impacting the ball is the most amazing thing. Showing the golf ball actually compressing is really cool. Im not sure where the average Joe could access this type of technology or what it would cost, but I am sure the price and availability will soon be improving.
What is available in most major markets across the country is a less expensive version. Places like Bogart Golf and Golf Tec offer golf swing analysis in a controlled indoor environment. You will typically get two camera views. One will video from the front and the other will give a down the line perspective from behind. These cameras are not as fast as the Swing Vision ones on tv, but they are plenty fast enough to be able to show your swing in slow motion and freeze images of the different stages in your swing. A PGA professional will analyze your swing and give you an expert critique. This type of golf swing analysis typically runs anywhere from $50 to $200.
Finally, there are places like the Golf Channel that will help with your golf swing analysis. If you take a homemade video of yourself and send it to them, they will analyze it at no cost. You will need to give them a couple of different camera angles. They also want a close up view of your grip.
So there you have it. These were just a few examples of the many different golf swing analysis options. Now, more than ever, you can find a method and cost to fit your style, schedule and budget.
