Golf Putting Grip Tip

Wow! Have you seen all the different golf putting grips being used by the PGA touring pros today? It is amazing how in a field of about 140 golfers, there are so many different approaches and styles.

Not only are the putting grips different, but the number of styles and size of putters is staggering. The long putter has been the rage for the past several years. And I am sure with Vijay Singh winning the Fed Ex Cup just after he proclaimed himself the “best putter” on tour, many more of us weekend golfers will be persuaded to try one of those long putters.

But if you are anything like me (and most golfers), you will be sticking with the more traditional length putters. I found this video tip on the golf putting grip kinda strange, but maybe helpful. I still have not decided yet - you be the judge.

Not sure I have ever seen any golf putting tip exactly like that. I do find myself pointing my right index finger downt the back of the shaft sometime. It seems to give me a better “feel” of the putting stroke. I don’t think I have noticed it helping reduce any wrist action. But I guess I may give it at try on the practice green next time out.

Now one thing I did do last year that most golfers never do is I had my putter re-gripped. I use a Taylor Made Nubbins mallet style putter. I like the feel of the ball coming off of the rubberized putter face. The leather wrap grip was coming loose from the shaft at the bottom. I tried taping it a few times, but then decided to have the grip replaced. It now has a bright blue rubber grip. I like it okay, but I took a little ribbing from my buddies.
