Golf Drills Better Than Just Pounding A Bucket Of Range Balls
Have you spent countless hours at the driving range, pounding bucket after bucket of balls, only to find that what you have accomplished is engraining those bad swing habits deeper and deeper into your muscle memory? I used to do that too. But now I use specific golf drills to work on specific aspects of my swing.
Some of the golf drills may look a little silly sometimes, but chasing a little white ball a few miles around a field can look a little silly too. For instance, doing a simple drill to help you setup to your address correctly. You take your club and go through your pre-shot routine. Then you take your stance and address the ball. But instead of swinging the golf club and having all of those additional swing thoughts enter your head, you stop the process and start it all over again.
This may be an extreme example, but you get the idea. Golf drills will let you take a very small part of your golf swing and concentrate on it. Many times you will use chairs, basketballs, and other non-golf related items to help your body and your mind better understand. Its all about training your muscle memory and creating the correct repeatable feel of a good swing.
The internet is full of good golf drills on video. You can usually find one that matches exactly the part of your swing that you want to work on. Most of these drills dont even require that you actually hit a golf ball. So they can be performed without going to the course or the driving range. Some of the golf drills can even be done in your living room.
Here is another good example of a golf drill. It has helped my game. I hope you will enjoy it too. If not, just take a quick look around at all of the other golf drills available. I am sure you will find many that fit you to a tee.
